Most "great watches" are designed for 7.5-inch wrists — which leaves half the population wearing dinner plates. If your wrist is under 7 inches (about 17.8cm), the rules change: aim for 34–38mm cases, short lug-to-lug distance, and slim profiles. These are the picks that actually fit.

The 3 rules for small wrists

1. Measure your wrist first. Wrap a soft tape (or string) just below the wrist bone. Under 7 inches? Stay at 38mm and under. See our wrist size guide.
2. Lug-to-lug matters more than diameter. A 40mm watch with short lugs wears smaller than a 38mm with long ones. Check the lug-to-lug spec — keep it under 46mm.
3. Thin wins. Anything under 11mm thick hugs a slim wrist instead of perching on it.
